The latest in sub-floor technology — TruFlor — from the people that brought you TallWall, Stabledge, Windstorm, TallWall EWS and Solar Board.

Builders told us they need a sub-floor panel that truly meets their construction needs plus helps control costs when dealing with the challenging realities of today's housing market.

Here is what they wanted:

  • A sub-floor panel that will not be a problem if job site challenges cause minor delays during construction.
  • A price that represents true value not only for the builder but also their homebuyer.
  • A panel that gets the job done right — the first time.
  • A product that allows faster construction, increased profits, and lowers construction costs.
  • Panels must be accepted by the building codes and meet all industry standards.
  • Sub-floor panels must be easy for the framer to install and easier on their tools and equipment.
  • Make both the panel and the packaging easy to identify so everyone including the homebuyer can see that quality products have been used.

A team from our mill in Georgia and our Technology Center accepted and met all the challenges. The new panel is called TruFlor, an APA grade stamped 4'x8' x 23/32" T&G made for sub-floor applications.

These engineered OSB panels provide the builder(s) with exactly what they are looking for, a strong, tough, durable panel with great physical properties that is priced to provide the true value builders need and look for. TruFlor is easy for the framer to install plus it's easy on their tools. The Start of a Great Build!

There is a lot more to TruFlor than just a new name. TruFlor has new resin formulation, a new Quality Control protocol, a new edge color, a new T&G profile, and stronger packaging.

TruFlor stands out in the standard flooring crowd not only because of it's great edge swell performance compared to the leading standard brands, but each panel has the name TruFlor stamped on the face. If it doesn't say TruFlor on the panel — it isn't.

TruFlor brings today's smart builders exactly what they asked for and need to help them reduce costs, build faster and increase profits. TruFlor, the right panel, the right time, everytime.

INSTALLATION

  1. Allow 1/8" spacing on the 4' edges.
  2. Install panels with the major strength axis perpendicular to supports.
  3. Lightly butt the T&G together.
  4. Install T&G panels with the APA grade stamp down.
  5. Fastener spacing* - maximum 6"o.c. on edge supports; 10" to 12" o.c. on center supports.
  6. Gluing sub-floor panels is always recommended and may be required. We recommend the use of PL 400 subfloor adhesive. At a minimum, sub-floor adhesives must meet current industry test standards. If glue is used, apply only enough glue to install 2 or 3 panels at a time and fully fasten the panels before continuing.

*Consult your local building codes for local requirements and specifications.

Handling and Storage

  • Panels should be stored flat, indoors or under cover and protected from the elements.
  • When stacking panels the blocking/supports must be aligned.
  • If units are stacked the blocking/supports also must be aligned.
  • If stored outdoors, keep panels off the ground and on a flat base. Cover loosely to allow air circulation at the sides.
  • OSB should not be exposed to the weather or moisture on a continuous basis. However, Exposure-1 exterior bond rating indicates that unprotected exposure during normal construction periods will not adversely affect the structural properties.
  • Panels should be handled and stored with care to avoid damage and should be used on a first-in, first-out basis.

The following floor coverings may be installed over TruFlor:

Always follow the floor covering/installation product manufacturers' application recommendations.

  • Commercial and residential carpet and under pad.
  • Ceramic Tile and lightweight concrete.
  • Harwood floors, (Solvent based adhesives are recommended when gluing parquet hardwood flooring).
  • Vinyl flooring requires a suitable underlayment.
